Protesters block Tirana-Durres highway at midnight, stop in front of the airport

On its 15th day, the protest against the political class has taken a different direction.

After standing for about two hours in front of the Prime Minister's Office and then the usual march through the streets of Tirana, they did not return to where they started, but headed towards the Tirana-Durres highway.

For several hours, the highway was blocked by the march of protesters, who did not stop there, but headed towards Rinas Road in the direction of the "Mother Teresa" international airport.

In the middle of their march, at around 02:00 after midnight, they were confronted by the police, the Eagle forces, and the FNSH forces who had formed several cordons, also assisted by large blue uniformed vehicles.

The protesters sat on Rinas Street for about 60 minutes, until they decided not to advance further, but to return towards Tirana.

At the beginning of the protest, people wearing black hoods and glasses disturbed the protesters' peace. Tensions began when rumors spread that citizens were being asked for their ID cards to sign a petition, but organizers said that this was a provocation.

The protest continued with calls for the resignation of the Rama government and the creation of a transitional government. Even on the 15th day, citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the political class of 35 years with ironic banners and humor, but there was no shortage of speeches on the podium set up in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

The protesters considered the departure of Shkodra MP Marjana Koçeku from the Socialist parliamentary group as their victory.

"A news story just came out that shows how big this protest is. One of the chess pieces has just fallen, a deputy has resigned from the SP. Shkodra deputy Marjana Koçeku has just said I am an independent deputy. The end has come for you. This shows us that we must stay in the square, they will fall one by one like dominoes," said one of the protesters.

The rally was also joined today by residents of Durrës who oppose the TID project.

After the speeches, citizens marched through the streets of the capital and then entered the Eastern Ring Road.
