Plaque in honor of Ilaria Sula is destroyed/University and father react: They

In a classroom at the University of Salento, a plaque dedicated to Ilaria Sula, the twenty-two-year-old Albanian student murdered in Rome and whose crime was confessed to by her ex-boyfriend Mark Samson, was damaged.

The word "feminicide" (hater and murderer of women) has been removed from the plaque dedicated to the deceased.

The university's Department of Humanities and Social Sciences reported the incident in a social media post, expressing "concern and firm disapproval" of what happened in the Studium 6 classroom.

The note, taped to the back of the chair dedicated to Ilaria, explains: "This chair is reserved for Ilaria Sula, murdered by a misogynist and murderer. She should have been in class today too." A sentence from which the word "feminicide" has been erased with a stroke of black pen.

A gesture harshly criticized by the University Department itself, which declared: “This gesture offends the memory of Ilaria Sula and all victims of violence, and falls deeply into contradiction with the values of respect, inclusion and civic responsibility that inspire our research, teaching and third mission activities on a daily basis. We remind you that the fight against all forms of gender-based violence is for us a concrete commitment, not just a theoretical one, and the Department – through all its components – will continue to promote awareness and responsibility through initiatives, studies and spaces for discussion. DISUS renews its commitment to the protection of fundamental rights and the building of a university community that is increasingly attentive, supportive and free from all forms of discrimination.”

Ilaria's father, Flamur Sula, commented on this senseless act: "I feel sorry for Ilaria, they are insulting her memory and that of other murdered girls like her. I am speechless, unfortunately there are people like that in this world."
