For 6 days, a large-scale fire has continued to burn part of the forest area of ​​the village of Dardhë, in the Municipality of Librazhd, while efforts to bring the flames under control are facing great difficulties due to the mountainous terrain, strong winds and high temperatures.

Dozens of Librazhd fire service forces, supported by civil emergency structures, have been continuously engaged in the field to isolate active fires and prevent further spread of the fire. However, atmospheric conditions have favored the advancement of the flames over a wide area of ​​dry vegetation and forests.

The rugged mountainous terrain makes it difficult for firefighters to intervene, forcing teams to work on foot in many sectors to contain the spread of the fire. The priority remains protecting forest areas and avoiding the risk of the flames spreading outside the area currently under control.

Dardha e Librazhdi is an area rich in forests and natural vegetation, so the environmental damage after this fire is expected to be considerable. So far, no injuries have been reported. Fortunately, the fire is far from residential areas and no homes are at risk, while authorities continue to monitor the situation on the ground. The area where the fires are active throughout its surface has had thousands of m3 of dry wood left there from the massacre committed year after year by illegal forest users in the last decade.

The Elbasan District area was warned a few days ago by the National Civil Protection Agency as one of the regions with a very high risk of the outbreak and spread of fires, due to the heat wave and extreme temperatures that swept the country over the weekend.
