Police "land" on the streets of Tirana: 3 thousand fines, 34 vehicles blocked and several traffic permits revoked

Tirana Police have intensified field controls over the last 48 hours, with a focus on increasing public and road safety and cracking down on illegalities.

These checks were carried out in a surprise manner on the main axes and various areas of the capital.

This action, as stated by the Tirana Police, aimed to identify cases of illegal possession of weapons, possession of narcotics, arresting wanted persons, as well as verifying luxury and armored vehicles, vehicles with tinted windows beyond the permitted norms, and vehicles with modifications that cause noise pollution.

According to the Police, 131 vehicles and 213 citizens were checked and verified during the operation. Five people and vehicles were escorted to the Tirana Police Directorate for further verification.

Meanwhile, 7 people have been arrested or prosecuted, mainly for drunk driving, driving without a driving license or violating road traffic rules.

3012 administrative measures have also been imposed for various violations, including driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seat belt, using tinted windows, not giving priority to pedestrians, wrong overtaking and other violations of the Road Code.

Police have announced that 34 vehicles have been blocked, while 9 traffic permits have been withdrawn.

The Police say such checks will continue uninterruptedly in Tirana, with the aim of preventing and cracking down on illegalities, increasing road safety, and guaranteeing a safer environment for citizens.
