"The entire first floor was on fire", the firefighter recounts the moments of horror in the Vlora hotel: Vacationers were forced to jump from the balcony

A call from a resident alerted the Vlora fire department in time about the fire at the Lungomare hotel.

This was stated by the head of the fire service, Luan Kapaj, in a statement to the media. According to him, when the fire brigade arrived, the entire first floor of the hotel in Vlora was engulfed in flames.

"Last night we had a somewhat special situation because there was a large fire on the first floor of the bar-restaurant and it spread to the second floor where the hotel was. Initially, a call came to the fire service information office, someone passed by, saw a small burn and flame and said: an armchair is burning. The fire brigade went to the scene and saw that the entire first floor was in flames," Kapaj emphasizes.

The fire service chief says that fire crews intervened immediately to isolate the flames and prevent their spread.

"The intervention had to be done in two directions, to isolate the first floor so that the fire would not spread to the hotel and to make it possible to evacuate all residents residing in the hotel. We worked with the forces we had available and with help from other forces. The firefighting team did its best to ensure that the people on the second floor were evacuated without any problems, as they tried to jump out of the hotel themselves. The situation was difficult because the bar was completely engulfed in flames and the temperatures were taking their toll. It was impossible for the residents to get out of the stairs and they were forced to jump from the balcony," Kapaj declared.
