A serious event occurred on Saturday, December 30, 2023 in New York where police forces found a colleague who committed suicide in his apartment. 49-year-old Watson Morgan had earlier killed his Albanian-born wife Ornela Morgan (Rori), 43-year-old from Korça, and his two sons, aged 10 and 12, with his service weapon.

Police officers went to conduct a search of the apartment after Watson failed to show up for work. American media reports that he was a youth training squad officer and was expected to retire in March. All four family members were found dead with gunshot wounds.

"At this stage of the investigation it is believed that Watson killed his wife and two children before killing himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound," police said. A handgun was seized at the scene.

Kenyatta Jones-Ariette, a friend of the Morgan family posted a Facebook post about the event.

"Our hearts are super heavy today. We pray for peace. RIP Ornela, Watson, Gabe and Liam. Sometimes things happen that are hard to understand. You wonder if there was anything you could have done to change the outcome. Is there anything I could have said to change the trajectory? We all have our own individual journeys even as we occupy this space we call common ground. You never know what goes on inside someone's head," Jones-Ariette wrote.

Bronxville police said Watson didn't show up for his evening shift Friday, so they contacted Clarkstown police to search the apartment.

The Morgan family bought the house in New City in 2016 for $577,000. The 43-year-old Albanian was a teacher in the New York City public school system.

A neighbor of the victims said that "the family was perfect, perfect Americans".
