The fire in the forest massif of the village of Rriban, in Mallakastër, continues to remain active, while forces on the ground are working to isolate the flames.

The flames have engulfed a forest area, while firefighters' intervention has been made difficult due to the rugged terrain and lack of accessible roads.

Firefighters are working to isolate and extinguish the fire, but the difficult terrain does not favor intervention from the ground. Helicopters have also been made available to extinguish the flames.

Due to strong winds, the fire has grown to large proportions, including the crowns of pine trees, increasing the risk of the fire spreading further.

Through a statement, the Fier Police announced that they have evacuated 15 families, as well as their livestock and pets.

The operation involved police forces, firefighters, the National Security Forces, civil emergency structures, as well as a Ministry of Defense helicopter and a Canadair aircraft to isolate and extinguish the flames. Meanwhile, the investigation team is working to clarify the causes of the fire and identify the perpetrators if deliberate arson is found.

The police appeal to citizens to avoid starting fires and to report any suspicious cases to 112.

The services of the Mallakastër Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the structures of the Fier Local Police Directorate, fire services, the National Security Forces, civil emergency structures, with the air support of a Ministry of Defense helicopter and a Canadair aircraft, have been maximally engaged since the early hours of the morning in the village of Riban, where a massive fire has engulfed large areas of land, causing significant damage to vegetation.

Due to the spread of flames towards residential areas, the Police services immediately intervened to evacuate 15 families, as well as their livestock and pets, in order to guarantee the safety of the lives and property of the residents.

Currently, Police services continue to be engaged in the field, in collaboration with firefighting forces, the National Security Forces, other responsible structures, with the air support of a Ministry of Defense helicopter and a Canadair aircraft, to isolate and extinguish the fires, as well as to provide assistance to residents of the area.

At the same time, the investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is working to determine the cause of the fire, fully document the circumstances of the event, and identify the perpetrator, if the fire turns out to have been caused by illegal actions.

The Fier Local Police Directorate appeals to all citizens not to light fires to burn plant waste or for any other purpose, as the spread of flames can bring serious consequences to life, property and the environment.

The police invite citizens to report any case of arson or other illegality to 112, guaranteeing anonymity, immediate and impartial response.
