The Ministry of Interior has declared two other citizens "non grata" for suspicious activities against the Albanian state, specifically two people from North Macedonia, Valon Belja and Bekir Halimi.
The latter, when asked by Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha, clarified the entire situation, stating that he has not officially verified the information about the 'non grata' and expects to confirm it through the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Tirana.
Halimi also adds that he is awaiting Albanian citizenship, but until then he explains that he is only subject to the laws of his country.
Journalist Hoxha: Hello. As we mentioned, I am Anila Hoxha, a journalist at Top Channel, Albania. Can you give me a reaction on the non grata declaration? Have you been informed why this decision was made and will you oppose it? Thank you.
Halimi: First of all, I want to inform you that I have not officially verified this information and that I will confirm it through the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Tirana.
The last activity I have developed in Albania has been a collaboration with the Shkodra Region, within the framework of this government, for a promotional activity of Albania in the international arena. Due to our contribution, merits and influence in this project, we expect to be granted Albanian citizenship soon. Until then, I am subject only to the laws of my country and, for this reason, I am initially examining this issue in communication with our Embassy in Tirana.
Throughout my life and career, I have not had or been affiliated with any organization or formation, whether national or international. This was a conscious choice, as I wanted my only commitment to remain my participation in the two KLA liberation wars, in Kosovo and Macedonia, during the years 1998–2001.
I have always been part of the Islamic Religious Community of North Macedonia, which is my only representative institution. Within it, I have fulfilled and continue to fulfill all my obligations and responsibilities, as a believer and as a mujtahid.
I will continue to fulfill my duty as a mujtahid, as all prophets have done, by calling people to tawhid (monotheism) and opposing all negative phenomena that bring serious consequences for the individual and society. It is precisely out of the love and care we have for our people that we will always continue to raise our voices in this regard, considering this a religious, moral and social obligation.
