Osmani hands Kadare the citizenship of Kosovo
President Vjosa Osmani hands over the citizenship of Kosovo to the writer Ismail Kadare

The great writer Ismail Kadare received the citizenship of Kosovo today.

Citizenship was handed over to Kadare by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, in a special ceremony during her two-day visit to Albania.

"Today, I handed over the Citizenship Decree of the Republic of Kosovo to our great writer Ismail Kadare, the honor of our nation.

Welcome Ismail Kadare to the big family of Kosovo! Let your stories continue to conquer the world by reminding us of the power of literature to shape perspectives, challenge norms and encourage dialogue", President Osmani writes on social networks.

Earlier this year, Kadare was honored with the "Hasan Prishtina" order, the highest awarded by the Republic of Kosovo to the most outstanding personalities of culture, art, and society.
