The Police Supervision Agency has launched investigations into two police inspectors in Durrës, as they are accused of corruption. According to AMP, the disciplinary investigation has started for Ervis Sokolli and Skënder Sakajn, both with the duty of traffic inspector.

The investigation has also started for the driver Inida Harshova, who allegedly gave money to two police officers.

"From the entirety of the first investigative actions carried out, reasonable suspicions arise that the police officers have consumed the elements of the criminal offense "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions", provided for by Article 259 of the Criminal Code, while the citizen IH is suspected of has consumed the elements of the criminal offense "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" provided by Article 244 of the Criminal Code", the announcement states.

The Regional Directorate of the Durrës Police Supervision Agency referred the procedural materials to the Prosecutor's Office of the Durrës Judicial District for the police officers:

- ES Inspector with the duty of Inspector of Urban and Interurban Traffic at the Durrës Local Police Directorate, suspected of having consumed the elements of the criminal offense "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions";

- SS Inspector with the duty of Inspector of Urban and Interurban Traffic at the Durrës Local Police Directorate, suspected of having consumed the elements of the criminal offense "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions";

- Citizen IH, suspected of having consumed the elements of the criminal offense "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions"

The materials were referred after on 16.01.2023 the AMP Durrës Regional Directorate became aware of a video published on social networks where an unidentified citizen denounces with footage a case of control of a female driver, carried out by two police officers, and in the video, bribery by police officers is suspected

From the totality of the first investigative actions carried out, reasonable doubts arise that the police officers have consumed the elements of the criminal offense "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions", provided for by Article 259 of the Criminal Code, while the citizen IH is suspected of having consumed the elements of the criminal offense "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" provided by article 244 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Professional Standards in the State Police has started the disciplinary investigation for the 2 Police employees.
