The drilling of the Greeks starts while the issue of the sea between Albania and Greece, which has been sent for review to The Hague, has not yet been resolved.

For the Greeks, the entire territory of the Ionian Sea is important as it is expected that large amounts of gas will be found there, which would give a good hand to the Greek economy.

Greece has previously declared the extension of its territorial waters to 12 miles, causing a great tension with Turkey, while for years Greek diplomacy has been trying to reach a favorable agreement with Albania, which it then uses as an example for the solution of the biggest problems with the Turks.
