Renowned analyst of Eurasian and Balkan affairs, Janusz Bugajski, has passed away.
The news was announced by former Voice of America director Elez Biberaj, who expressed deep sorrow for the loss of his close friend and colleague.
"I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my close friend and colleague, Janusz Bugajski. He was a brilliant analyst of Eurasian affairs, the author of many works that significantly influenced our understanding of the region, and a staunch defender of democracy, good governance, and freedom of the press ," Biberaj wrote.
He recalled the many years of cooperation with Bugajski on various projects, especially those related to the Balkans.
"I admired him not only for his intellect, but also for his integrity, humor, and unwavering commitment to the values ??he held dear. His absence will be deeply felt by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. I will miss him immensely. Rest in peace, Janusz," Biberaj's message concludes.
