Hekuran Cumani, a 23-year-old of Italian-Albanian origin, was stabbed to death in one of the parking lots of the University of Perugia in the early hours of this morning.
Italian media reports that the prosecution is investigating the case as murder, while the crime is suspected to have been the tragic result of an argument. The victim was stabbed in the chest, resulting in his death, while the perpetrators are still being sought.
When medical personnel arrived at the scene, the young man had died. According to initial investigations, the 23-year-old had gotten into a fight with several people during the early hours of Saturday at a club near the university.
The mayor, the municipal council and the Municipal Council of Perugia express their deepest sorrow for the death of the young man.
“The news has shocked us all, as individuals and as institutions,” they wrote in a joint statement. “We stand with his family and friends, who are experiencing unbearable grief today, with love and respect. It is difficult to accept that such a young life has been cut short in such a tragic way. The pain of these hours extends to the entire city. Perugia stands with those who are suffering today and reflects, with sorrow, on a tragedy that deeply affects our community,” they said.
