Several previously undisclosed details have emerged from the murder of citizen Ramazan Mataj on the evening of January 5 of this year in Postribë, Shkodra, an event for which two brothers Arjon Hasaj were arrested as the organizer and executor and Klisman Hasaj as an accomplice.
From the file received at the Shkodra court after the completion of the Prosecution's investigations, it emerged that an Instagram address with which the victim had been contacted belonged to the suspected perpetrator of the incident, Arjon Hasaj, who has admitted to the murder he committed.
Arjoni admitted to the crime and confessed that he organized the meeting with the victim by creating a fake Instagram profile and posing as a woman. Hasaj stated that he paid a Roma girl to send two voice messages to Mataj and convince him that he was talking to a woman.
According to the author's statement, the motive for the murder was family tensions after the victim was accused of sexual relations, of distributing intimate photos and videos, and of being the cause of two divorces of citizen Armela Hasaj due to the relationship that Mataj had had for years with the author's sister.
Arjoni says in his statement that 2-3 nights before the murder, he saw on his sister's Instagram, with whom he had not communicated for 3 years, a video of her in a car that he recognized as belonging to Ramazan Mataj, which made him even more psychologically distressed.
After they left the meeting on a rainy night, the author said, as soon as the victim approached by car, I shot him 18-19 times with a 20-gauge rifle and then I rode home on my bicycle and hid the gun behind the house. No one knew about the murder and no one helped me, Hasaj declared, while expressing remorse for the serious crime but saying that he was psychologically distressed.
During their stay at the Shkodra police station, the two defendants talk about the murder from a wiretap made at the police station, initially agreeing not to admit it if the police do not have evidence, but after seizing the crime weapon, 16 cartridges at the scene and a combat ammunition, Arjon Hasaj admitted that he committed the murder and was arrested in Muriqan while attempting to cross into Montenegro immediately after killing Ramazan Mataj.
The sister of the arrested, Armela Hasaj, stated that since 2018 she had a relationship with Ramazan Mataj and that he often threatened her, something for which she also filed a report, but the victim did not accept the threats against her, who has received several protection orders from the court for this case. "I had blocked him, but he wrote to me with fake addresses and shared my photos and videos. I was being stalked by Ramazan the whole time," she stated.
The victim's father, Fatmir Mataj, stated that his son told him that he was going to meet a girl from the village of Drisht with whom he had serious intentions, but the father's messages and calls on his cell phone throughout the night went unanswered until he learned about his son's murder in the morning through the media.
Meanwhile, the father of the two arrested, Rrustem Hasaj, stated that he had no knowledge of the murder, nor of the number with which his son Arjon Hasaj's Instagram address was opened, nor of the weapons that were found in the yard.
Two of the victim's cousins, during conversations on social networks, advised him to first make sure who he was talking to, raising their suspicions about a fake address, but Ramazan Mataj is convinced that he was communicating with a girl from Drishti, going out to the meeting that took his life. A resident near the place where the murder occurred stated that he heard the explosions but did not pay attention because they seemed minor.
The prosecution emphasizes in the file that there is material evidence (weapons, ammunition, cartridges) that have been seized and the case will continue in court. Investigations and statements from family members and other witnesses will remain part of the judicial process.
