
The AKU has blocked over 110 tons of fruits and vegetables in Shkodra, also disrupting the activity of the entity that was trading them. It is reported that the entity in question is citizen Elidon Bala, with the activity "processing/packaging fruits and vegetables".
During field inspections, serious violations were found regarding compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards in the premises where food products are handled.
"For this reason, the AKU has taken a series of immediate administrative measures: Fine in the amount of 500,000 lek, referred to Law No. 9863, dated 28.01.2008 "On Food" (as amended), based on Article 68, point 1, letter (h), for violation contrary to Article 23, failure to comply with legal requirements on hygienic-sanitary conditions for the safety and treatment of food products; Immediate cessation of production activity, referred to Law No. 99/2024 "On Inspection in the Republic of Albania", Article 46, point 1, as an urgent administrative measure in cases where a serious risk to the public interest and food safety is found; Blocking of the product in the amount of 110 tons, until the completion of legal procedures and decision-making for destruction, in accordance with the legislation in force for failure to comply with hygienic-sanitary conditions," the announcement states.
