Environmental pollution in the Vjosa National Park by the oil company ' Albpetrol ', the police have launched investigations into 4 employees.

For six days now, the pipeline that transmits oil from the Drenova oilfield to the collection center has been cracked due to wear and tear, causing hydrocarbon waste to spill into the Gorishova stream and end up in the Vjosa River.

The employees under investigation are suspected of not having taken the necessary measures to repair this pipeline, which consequently caused an environmental disaster.

"Specialists from the Economic Crimes Investigation Section of the Fier DVP referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against citizens ZT, 59 years old, AZ, 57 years old, GB, 52 years old and GN, 52 years old, employees of an oil extraction company. These citizens are suspected of not having taken the necessary measures to repair a damaged oil extraction pipeline, causing pollution of the environment and the Vjosa River", the police informed.

There are 20 active wells in the Drenova oilfield.

Employees of the company " Alpetrol " took measures only yesterday by setting up traps so that hydrocarbon waste does not continue to penetrate the Vjosa River.
