Massacre in Italy/ Expertise: Vironi shot his ex-wife in the head and stabbed

New details have emerged from the murder of Mynevere Karabollaj (Myrtaj), or Vera as she was called by friends, together with her 23-year-old boyfriend Flonino Merkuri. She separated from her husband three years ago and lived with her two daughters in Spinea (Venice).

For a year and a half she had a new partner. A relationship that may have caused the jealousy of the ex who killed them both on Sunday, November 20.

Viron Karabollaj is suspected of having first shot his ex-wife in the head and then violently attacked his new partner, Flonino Merkuri, repeatedly stabbing him with a knife and then following him to the garage of the house, where the young man attempted to in vain to flee to escape the brutal attack.

At this point, the forty-one-year-old man of Albanian nationality would have returned upstairs to kill Vera Myrtaj with a knife. The autopsy counted a total of ten blows, of which those that reached the heart and lungs of the thirty-seven-year-old woman were fatal. On the contrary, the blows received by Mercury were 55 and reached various vital parts, killing the 23-year-old on the spot.

The investigators thus reconstruct the dynamics of the double murder that happened last Sunday afternoon, between 18:00 and 18:30, inside the villa on via Leopardi, in Spinea, where the couple lived.

Karabollaj had brought with him the pistol he used to shoot his ex-wife: a weapon he had probably modified himself, but which made it non-lethal.

The bullet that hit the thirty-seven-year-old woman in the head, at the level of the eyes, did not actually cause her death, and for this reason, Karabollay had to inflict knife wounds on the woman's body.

After the autopsies performed by forensic pathologist Carlo Terranova were completed, the deputy prosecutor Daniela Moroni yesterday gave permission to the family members for the burial, which will take place in the following days.

The prosecutor will probably order an expertise on the weapon before the investigation is closed. The file is destined to be archived for the death of the author: after completing his crazy plan, in fact, Karabollarj killed himself inside a shed of the company he worked for.

Incredibly, none of the neighbors heard any noise: neither the shots nor the screams of the victims. The only screams that were heard and reported to the investigators were those of Vera's daughter, who, returning home in the evening, discovered Flonino's body in the garage.

The Public Prosecution has already included the Juvenile Court which will have to deal with Vera's two daughters, left dramatically without both parents.
