Fierce fight between cartels, Artan Hoxha: This is the role of Albanians in
Artan Hoxha

Albanians in Ecuador, according to journalist Artan Hoxha, are gaining important roles in the organization of cocaine trafficking routes, from there to Albania and Europe.

Hoxha said that Albanians have started to open legal businesses in order to clean the money. The journalist emphasized that the Albanians manage to survive the war between the cartels in Ecuador only by protecting themselves and not getting involved in the problems that the locals have. As long as the Albanians are protected from becoming part of the conflicts according to Hoxha, security is brought to them and they are seen as suppliers of money.

"There had previously been a clash between Albanians. The old people there had established legitimate companies and businesses. They had a pharmacy, wood factory, hydrosanitary. They had found a way to cover up and launder money," said Hoxha.

"The only problem for the Albanians is not to fight with the locals. The cocaine there comes from Colombia and Peru. The line to bring it is coordinated there in Ecuador. There are Russians, Dutch, Italians. There were its own "consuls" from each state. They were guarantors of the local cartels. Among the Albanians who had been earlier since 2000, there were also from Kosovo. But there had been a rotation and they had lost position. The case of Remzi Azemi who left and is in prison. Or some others are killed, like the last Ergys Dashi. It should not be involved in internal conflicts. You should have stayed out of that battle. That if a cartel broke up you had to be careful. Where you had to send more money to another group, you became a target. They saw you as a source of money for the opponents. Albanians in Ecuador carried money and received cocaine., said Hoxha.

In order to survive, according to Artan Hoxha, Albanians move a little and to safe areas. According to him, Albanians were residents in areas where government officials were also located and with much higher security than other areas.

"Guayaquil had no order. The Albanians were staying in a safe area. Where there were also people with power. The cartels did not interfere ," said journalist Hoxha.

Hoxha also shared an interesting moment from his visit to Ecuador. He explained how he drove around in an armored car and noticed that the car's windows were much thinner than in Europe. Hoxha connects this with the fact that Kalashnikovs are not used in Guayaquil, but only light weapons.
