London starts the trial against Sali Berisha, the request against the
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha

In England, the Special Immigration Appeal Commission has started work, which will examine Sali Berisha's appeal against the 2022 decision of the Home Office that declared her "non-grata".

This is the first public and known application of its kind. Berisha opposes the decision of Priti Pattel, at that time Home Office secretary, who declared non grata the opposition leader of a friendly country. Berisha claims that the accusations of connection to crime and corruption, cited in the file that was declared non grata, are untrue.

Berisha claims in the lawsuit filed in Great Britain, that Edi Rama knew in advance about the expulsion order and had even announced it in the Parliament of Albania, even before he himself had been notified of the decision of the Secretary of the Interior.

Berisha's legal team consists of lawyers Fergus Randolph and the Irish consulting firm, 'Zaiëalla and Co'. Hearings with arguments for and against the Home Office decision are expected to last until Friday.
Sali Berisha was initially declared non grata by the United States of America for involvement in major corruption and interference in the justice system. A few months later, Great Britain did the same, but also citing links to crime.

Berisha's defense team in London claims that the decision to declare him non grata was based on media articles and accusations of his political opponents.
