Within the summer, it is expected that the fast bus lines will become functional in Tirana. It is about Unaza, New Tirana and the Kombinat-Kinostudio line. These lines will have dedicated and uninterrupted lanes, which will enable faster movement of citizens using public transport.

"There will be a doubling of speed, the time of a complete cycle that an urban bus takes will be halved, the transport capacity will increase", said Dashnor Mema, head of the Union of Public Transport.

With the changes that are expected to be made in the public transport sector, which aim to improve the service for citizens and which will consequently bring a higher number of users, there will be no changes in the ticket price.

"I don't believe that there will be changes in the price, but there will be lines that will move faster and will help reduce traffic", added Mema.

Over 250,000 people a day use public transport in the capital. The number of citizens who use buses as a means of transportation in Tirana increased even more after the increase in the price of fuel. But often for this sector there are complaints from citizens about the long wait at the station or the filling beyond the capacity of the buses. With the new changes, it is expected that the waiting time at the station for citizens will go to 3 minutes for all lines and the quality of the service will increase./Tch
