Faruk Fatih Özer was the owner of the Turkish cryptocurrency "Thodex", which declared bankruptcy a month ago, financially harming more than 350 thousand investors, mainly in Turkey. The investigation against Faruk Fatih Özer was initiated on April 22, after the Chief Public Prosecutor of Anatolia announced that users could not access their accounts on the platform called "Thodex".
He was declared an international wanted by the Turkish police authorities and by the General Secretariat of Interpol in Lyon after being suspected of fraud in the Turkish state worth about 2 billion dollars, while it was reported that he had with him a hard drive worth of 108 million dollars.
Özer founded the company in 2017 and allowed users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies. In THODEX there were a total of 400 thousand accounts and 391 thousand active investors, having a monthly transaction volume of 100 billion lira, approximately 12 billion dollars.
By making his disappearance, he realized the biggest fraud in the history of Turkey worth 2 billion dollars. This is after the company run by him stopped operations on April 19 as it is suspected that Özer was in Albania since April 20, 2021.
