Pogradec police say they have arrested a 27-year-old man for "assaulting a municipal councilor in the line of duty" today during a meeting.

According to the police, Kevi Muçllari insulted and then shot municipal councilor Engjëll Shyti after the latter voted in favor of leasing 34 hectares of land in the village of Çërrava for a private business such as a photovoltaic park.

The villagers have opposed this, saying it is a decision against their interests.

Police Announcement:

Crime Investigation Specialists at the Pogradec Police Station arrested in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense of "Assault in the line of duty", citizen KM, 27 years old, resident of Pogradec.

On 10.11.2025, at around 14:25, in the premises of the Pogradec Municipality, during a meeting of the Municipal Council with the presence of citizens, this citizen initially debated and insulted the members of the Municipal Council, and then exercised physical violence against citizen E. Sh., 47 years old, a member of the Municipal Council, by punching him.

The materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
