An Albanian has been put in handcuffs because, according to the Italian authorities, he is part of a group of criminals who were involved in house burglaries. For months, Zef Bani, 30, had been under police investigation. He was captured in Barcelona on Wednesday, where he had been on the run for some time after a robbery.

According to the investigation, he is one of the members of the group that last December paralyzed an entire city after entering the opposite lane of the road while being pursued at high speed by the police.

It is about 5 people who escaped in an Alfa Romeo. But during the chase they caused an accident and then escaped on foot. Only one of them, Segi Gega, was caught and accused of robbery. The other three suspects as part of the group are VT, 30 years old, SP, 26 years old and MD, 25 years old.

Albanians have shown caution in everything, even in communications and travel. They used SIM cards registered in other people's names and did not talk on mobile phones during the robberies.

They have also avoided direct flights from Albania to Italy as they would be subject to border controls. For this reason, they used transits from Spain and Hungary. Some of the members of the group have recently changed their surnames and applied for a new Albanian passport using different personal details.

The breakdown of one of the mobile phones was key to the investigation. There, various messages were discovered between the gang members talking about the robberies they were going to commit. From the analysis, it was revealed that messages were also coming from Spain, especially Barcelona. After monitoring the movements of the 30-year-old's wife, it was discovered that she went to Barcelona airport. There her husband was waiting for her, who was put in handcuffs by the Spanish authorities who were keeping him under surveillance at the request of the Italian authorities.
