38-year-old convicted of drug trafficking in Italy arrested for extradition

A 38-year-old man declared internationally wanted has been arrested with the aim of extradition to Italy, as part of the operation codenamed "Operation 77", finalized by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force of the State Police.

As a result of the exchange of information and operational coordination with the Italian authorities, through the Interpol Directorate, citizen Alessjo Abdija, 38 years old, was located and provisionally arrested.

According to the State Police, Abdija was sentenced in 2024 by the Court of Perugia, in Italy, to 6 years and 6 months in prison, for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics", committed in collaboration.

Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Rome, is following legal procedures to finalize his extradition to Italy, where he will serve the sentence imposed by the Italian judicial authorities.
