The police will never instigate clashes with protesters and will only intervene to stop acts of violence.
This is guaranteed by Interior Minister Ervin Demo, who, through a post on social media, emphasized that the right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution, but at the same time the government is ready for dialogue with protesters at any time.
" The right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution and the State Police has the obligation to respect and protect it. The State Police will never incite clashes with protesters. Its duty is to guarantee the peaceful development of the protest, order and the safety of every citizen.
Police intervention will only take place when necessary and lawful to prevent or stop acts of violence, to protect life, police officers, citizens, and public and private property, always respecting the principle of proportionality.
Protest is a democratic right. Violence is not and cannot be a part of it. The government remains open and ready for dialogue with protesters, at any time and for any concern or request they wish to raise. We believe that dialogue, listening and direct communication are the way to address concerns and find solutions. No door is closed to dialogue and no act of violence can replace it.
Responsibility for acts of violence is individual. No one can hide behind the right to protest to justify violating the law. Every person who commits illegal acts will be held accountable before the law, without exception.
" We will equally defend the right to protest, the safety of citizens and the authority of the law, " he wrote on Facebook.
