67 kg of cocaine were seized in the Port of Piraeus, with the Greek footballer

The Greek police in cooperation with the American DEA and the Greek special forces EKAM, seized 58 packages with 66 kg 700 grams of cocaine in the Port of Piraeus.

The drugs came from Latin America through containers and were destined for an Albanian criminal group, according to Greek media.

3 Greek citizens, 31, 36 and 41 years old, have been arrested. The latter turns out to be a former footballer in Greece.

According to "The Toc", the Latin American Cartel allegedly approached the 41-year-old ex-footballer and two employees and hired them to take the drugs out of the containers and then pass them on to their trafficking network from Albania.

The 41-year-old ex-footballer owns a refrigerator repair company and had a contract with the port as an external partner. His employee was the 31-year-old, a refrigeration engineer by profession, while the 36-year-old was a port employee and responsible for identifying defects in refrigeration systems.

The ex-footballer, according to the responsible officers, was the one who had contact with the cartel, who informed him about the number of the container with the cocaine load.

Usually the cartel's containers carried loads of shrimp from Ecuador, the repair of the cooling system was characterized as the first priority and so the container was not checked immediately, but after it was repaired so as not to spoil the goods.
