An Albanian man has been arrested in Rhyl, Great Britain, after he was caught growing cannabis plants indoors. According to the British media , the drug was worth 848 thousand pounds.

When the police raided his house, Arnold Hazizi, 30 years old, climbed onto the roof, but threw two cell phones on the ground that had messages linking him to drug traffickers.

After being arrested, Hazizi admitted in the courtroom that he cultivated cannabis and the court sentenced him to 22 months in prison. He also requested asylum from the British state, but the judge said that Hazizi will be deported to Albania immediately after the end of his sentence.

In his investigative file, it is stated that Haziz was the only person inside and tried to escape. 1,010 cannabis plants, 25 fans, 136 lights and an irrigation system were found. The equipment alone cost around £12,000. It is estimated that Hazizi together with another person had produced about 84 kg of cannabis in recent months. If sold in full kilograms, the cannabis would be worth between £127,350 and £381,600. If sold in small doses, the cannabis would be worth between £283,000 and £848,400

In court, Hazizi stated that he had worked on his family farm in Albania, but due to debts he was forced to go illegally to Great Britain. He claimed he first stayed with a friend of his called Miri in Manchester and worked for him. "I am in debt in Albania", said Hazizi.

Records on his phone proved that he had been in contact with a man named Nino to take care of the plants and even taught Nino how to take care of his cannabis plants. Between them there were 1000 messages. From all the evidence found, it appeared that Hazizi was carrying out the illegal activity for more than 7 months before he was arrested.

The Albanian's lawyer Simon Killeen said that his client is at risk in Albania because he has a lot of debts. "He has a wife, a child and his parents there. Came to England in January 2022. It is at risk in Albania", said Killeen.

The judge said that the question of deportation belongs to other authorities, but his opinion is that the defendant should be deported upon his release from prison.
