The grandfather of the 3-year-old who died after anesthesia, Guri Spahiu, has told in detail the circumstances that led to the deterioration of his health and then the loss of his grandson's life.
In an interview with Grida Duma in "Top Story", Spahiu considered the case tragic as he says that his grandson was killed by the doctor's hand.
Duma: How are the boy's parents?
Spahiu: They are in a shocking, serious condition. They are a young couple who have lost a 3 year old child. This is the biggest tragedy that can happen to someone in our country.
What makes the case more serious is that he was killed by the hand of a doctor, a fraudster who after the incident tried to cover the traces of the crime. Because we had the boy as an apple seed.
We took the child to have his teeth cleaned because he had black teeth, and like any responsible parent, we asked for a visit to the dentist. We asked people around to recommend us a good doctor and they recommended this one as the doctor. Roland Xhaxhua, because only a doctor I can't tell him.
We went a few days ago and consulted with the girl and the gentleman, we also made the job offer, we agreed. He visited the boy, did the tests, took the boy in his arms and was playing with him because the boy was a smiling child.
Duma: Did the boy do the consultation and the intervention on the same day?
Spahiu: Yes. We thought it had 4 teeth and two molars and to clean the mouth. But he took it and continued the work. We were worried because the operation took a long time.
And we asked everywhere, he told us that it is good. When we asked him why it took so long, they told us that he is waiting for the anesthesia to wear off. We told him 4 teeth and the teeth, he made the boy 14 just to get money.
Duma: Did you know that he would undergo anesthesia?
Spahiu: Yes, the doctor told us that there is no problem. It was a light anesthetic. I have a special solution that I use for this work with children in such cases. It won't be a problem.
Duma: Did you sign?
Spahiu: Yes, it is a normal procedure, the doctor told us, which was followed for every patient, adult or young. And of course, like any parent who signs off on a normal procedure, we did too.
The procedure lasted 9 and 20 minutes.
Duma: You weren't worried?
Spahiu: Yes, many times. We were there, waiting at the stairs. Several times we went up high with the idea, what is the boy doing? I knocked on the door, the secretary came out and said that the boy is in very good condition and the work on cleaning his teeth is continuing.
Now we trust the doctor, not the mechanic to fix our teeth. We didn't know that he would have 14 molars, because if I had known, I would have intervened there myself to take the boy.
After he took the boy out, we saw him and told him that "the boy is not well. It's not responding." He told me that it is very good, and take it home because it is the effect of narcosis.
Duma: Weren't you worried when he talked about narcosis?
Spahiu: No, because he said it was an easy solution that he used on children and we thought that was it. The doctor told us that as soon as the anesthesia wears off, he will be fine. We took the boy in the most serious, most critical condition. We didn't know where the fallout came from.
As soon as we brought him home, the boy started to have a high temperature.
As soon as I saw him, we took him to "Mother Teresa" and the first doctor who caught him said that the boy is in a coma. We were coming around there, worried. A first group of doctors gathered, they were consulting with each other. The doctors said that we urgently need to remove the excessive narcosis.
I don't know if someone gave them an order or something, but I saw a great commitment from the doctors of QSUT to help the boy. 3 doctors stayed on the boy's head all night.
