Former Attorney General, Adriatik Llalla, waives recourse to the Supreme Court

Adriatik Llalla, the country's former Attorney General until the end of 2017, has given up recourse to the Supreme Court and consequently the battle with SPAK.

As a person sentenced to two years in prison and five years of deprivation of the right to hold public office, the former chief prosecutor submitted the request through his defense attorney, while he remains wanted.

This waiver of recourse comes precisely at the time when the Supreme Court has announced the trial date four years after Adriatik Llalla's conviction, but also very likely as the sentence's statute of limitations approaches.

The Supreme Court has announced that the trial date will be March 25th and will be presided over by senior judge Ilir Panda. However, with the submission of the waiver of recourse, it is expected that the court will be left without a case to consider.

The former senior justice official was found guilty of concealing assets.

The confiscated assets are 22 thousand square meters of land and an apartment in Durrës that has been turned into an art center for young people. Faced with the accusation of failing to declare assets on three occasions, the defense of the former prosecutor general has insisted that Llalla has not hidden anything and that he had forgotten to declare the German expenses due to a human error.

Previously, the plaintiff was denied another appeal regarding trial deadlines.

This decision was announced on February 18, 2025. The Supreme Court recalls that the appeal against the decision of the preliminary judge who certified the SPAK charges against the former prosecutor general is unfounded.
