The Ministry of the Interior has been aware of the sensitivity of the information contained by the police and the need for technological systems to be improved in accordance with cyber security laws.
From the correspondence between the Ministry of the Interior and the National Agency of the Information Society, it has been decided to improve the police systems within the year 2022. TCH has provided a letter signed by the former general director of the police, Gladis Nano, which states that the investments in these systems were worth and 610 million new ALL.
The investments consisted specifically in the upgrade of the datacom transmission system, which would be financed by AKSHI with 254 million new lek. The e-fine system would also be improved, which would cost Akshi 62 million new lek.
Another 100 million lek have been invested for the improvement of the FER system, the electronic register of foreigners, which is used by the Border Police. 170 million was programmed to buy Datacentre equipment and IT machinery and equipment.
But despite these investments in significant values, it cannot be said that these systems won the challenge with hackers who forced these systems to remain off for several days.
