The Tirana Police has issued an official communiqué regarding the measure "prison arrest" that the Court of Tirana assigned to 31-year-old Gert Shehu, who punched former Prime Minister Sali Berisha before yesterday's protest on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard. .

The Blues of the capital state that Gert Shehu is charged with assault due to duty and intentional injury.

The special structures of the Judicial Police of the State Police, in cooperation with the specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Crimes against Life, of the DVP Tirana, and with the services of Police Station No. 1, after carrying out a series of investigative and procedural actions, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court, for the event that occurred on 06.12.2022, the citizen was arrested in the act:

Gert Shehu, 31 years old, resident of Tirana, for assault due to duty and intentional injury.

From the investigative actions, it turned out that this citizen punched MP Sali Berisha in the face, causing physical damage, while he was walking on Jean D'Arc boulevard, in the direction of the place where the protest would take place planned.

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court for further action.
