The appeal of GJKKO has upheld the decision taken on June 2 of this year, where the former director of RTSH, Thoma Gëllçi, was sentenced to 2 years in prison under the charge of misuse of his office. As a result of the application of the summary judgment, Gëlcî's sentence is reduced to 1 year and 4 months of imprisonment.
The decision left in force by GJKKO leaves also the members of the Bid Evaluation Commission, Julian Tapia, Ervin Muraj and Alban Malaveci, who were sentenced to 1 year in prison each.
The serving of the sentence against the defendants starts from the date of their arrest, i.e. from October 8, 2021.
Thoma Gëllçi and other arrested officials are prohibited from exercising public functions for a period of 5 (five) years.
