The final trial for members of the "Viterbese" mafia is postponed to

The preliminary hearing for the "Viterbese" mafia has been postponed until next July, an investigation that has brought to light a criminal organization with roots in the territory and linked to people already known to the Italian police.

11 defendants, including suspected gang leader Giuseppe Trovato, were arrested in January 2019 along with 13 other people in the massive raid carried out by the carabinieri.

The proceedings, which were taking place in the Capitoline court before preliminary hearing judge Claudio Carini, were postponed due to a legal impediment of the judge.

The defendants are accused of acts of intimidation, such as setting fire to private cars and those belonging to the police.

Among the emblematic cases of violence and repression is that of a 58-year-old restaurant owner from Tuscany, whose Jaguar was set on fire in December 2018 as a form of intimidation.

Only a year later, after an extortion attempt by Ismail Rebeshi's brother, David Rebeshi, did the businessman find the courage to report the incident. This episode gave rise to the second branch of the investigation, known as the "Viterbo mafia bis".
