The court in Greece jailed Pandeli Nakolec for the murder of his wife, Marjola, who, at the same time as he was delivering his speech of repentance in front of the judge, was escorted to Korça to her final residence.
Greek media reports that the 40-year-old admitted to the crime and said he would take full responsibility for what he did, but added that his intention was not murder.
"I am shocked and mentally devastated, desperate and in prison I thought about hurting myself. I didn't really mean to kill him, everything happened in the spur of the moment."
Outside the courthouse, the lawyer for the 36-year-old's family demanded that the authorities impose a harsh sentence so that it sets an example that society does not accept such violent behavior.
The murder in the Albanian family was recorded on Saturday morning in the apartment where they lived, and the couple's children were witnesses to the event.
