A Czech scientific team has managed to discover a special underwater treasure that had been hidden for years in Southern Albania, in the Vromoner area.

The largest underground thermal lake in the world is now located in Albania.

Czech scientists have been tracking the lake since 2021 and after years of research, they managed to discover the main source of thermal flows in the area.

The lake is 454 feet (138 meters) long and 138 feet (42 meters) wide, with a total volume equal to 3.5 Olympic swimming pools.

Heated by geothermal activity, this large underground body of water was found in a remote region near Leskovik, an area long restricted due to political tensions between Albania and Greece.

"Based on the high column of steam rising from the limestone massif, we were able to find an abyss over a hundred meters deep.

We called it Atmos.

"In the end, we discovered a strong thermal flow and a vast lake. In order for Czech science to present this phenomenal discovery, it was necessary to conduct scientific research and precise measurements," said Marek Audy, head of the Neuron Atmos Expedition.
