A 45-year-old man sentenced by Italian authorities to 12 years and 10 months in prison for the criminal offenses of " Murder " and " Unlicensed Possession of Weapons " has been arrested in Vlora.

Renald Gjini is expected to be extradited to Italy.

Police announcement:

DVP Vlora/The police operation codenamed "Il Obiettivo" is being finalized, for the capture of a citizen declared internationally wanted, on behalf of Italy.

Sentenced by Italian authorities to 12 years and 10 months in prison for the criminal offenses of "Murder" and "Unlicensed Possession of Weapons", the 45-year-old man, who is internationally wanted, is located and arrested for extradition to Italy.

The structures of the Serious Crimes Investigation Sector, in cooperation with the Operational Section at the Vlora Police Department, in continuation of the work to locate and capture internationally wanted citizens, based on the information provided and in cooperation with the corresponding Interpol offices, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Il Obiettivo".

As a result, yesterday, in the "Rilindja" neighborhood, the capture and provisional arrest, with the aim of extradition to Italy, of the citizen:

Renald Gjini, 45 years old, resident of Vlora.

This citizen was declared internationally wanted, after the Bologna Court of Appeal, Italy, sentenced this citizen to 12 years and 10 months in prison, for the criminal offenses of "Murder" and "Unlicensed Possession of Weapons", according to Italian criminal legislation.

Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome are in close cooperation for further extradition procedures.
