Two new arrests in the framework of the cocaine investigation in Pistoia, Italy, launched since last year (2023) in the "Longbridge" operation.
A group of 18 people are accused in total, while the last two join the file and most of them are under investigation, while 6 are in custody. The two arrested on the weekend (September 7) are an Albanian and an Italian.
Deputy Prosecutor Leonardo De Gaudio is leading the investigation, as the media reported that a wide cocaine network was dismantled, based on the distribution in Pistoia.
The two arrests took place in Pistoia and Santa Croce sull'Arno. Investigators had some time on the trail of the two distributors and thanks to extensive wiretapping activity, basic evidence was secured, the network and contacts were broken down.
The police explained that the arrested Italian was carrying half a kilogram of cocaine, while the Albanian was carrying 1 kg of hashish. Both are undergoing investigations and security measures.
Meanwhile, yesterday morning (September 8) 5 of the arrested were interrogated in the Prato prison. Everyone used the right not to answer, writes "La Nazione".
They are: Rinald Shega, 42 years old, Albanian, Elmehdi Jarmouni, 31 years old, Moroccan, Mihai Constantin Ungueranu, 35 years old, Romanian, Marco Ciapetti, 56 years old, Italian and Rexhep Muntean (alias Rexhep Hysaj), 40 years old, Albanian.
The "Longbridge" investigation started a year ago, in July 2023 until January of this year, with hundreds of telephone and environmental interceptions, while the Italian and the Albanian are the last two arrested.
