Elisabeta Imeraj

Following her dismissal, Elisabeta Imeraj, during her statement to the media, said that she would take the case to the Strasbourg Court.

The former chief prosecutor of Tirana called for the vetting process not to turn into a witch hunt.

"And to conclude, not as a maloke, I apologize, not even raising my voice, it's my holiday to receive every file in my process in the KPA and KPC. It is unacceptable for me to be in front of facts with forged documents.

Who and why was the administration in my file in the first instance necessary, the property card of Elisasbeta Imeraj. Imeraj has zero assets owned and co-owned. There is no element that compromises it. We can not say that we are perfect in our work, we have tried to perfect over the years.

We have done no more or less to do the task, willingly and responsibly. I will consider not very present the fact not emotionally connected in relation to the dismissal, but the vetting process should not turn into a witch hunt. "Because someone does not want Elisabeta Imeraj to be the chief prosecutor", said Imeraj.

"I am convinced, as I promised my children, that absolute truth always triumphs," she concluded.

Meanwhile her lawyer said Vettingu is going wrong and has gotten out of control already, adding that the process had false evidence.

"Today is a very sad day in Albania. We have proof that Vettingu has gone bad and is out of control. I have not seen such a process with fake evidence and I believe that today you have lost a very good asset and a good prosecutor. The system is out of control. We will go to other steps of course! ”
