Ilir Meta's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, said that they will appeal the security measure of "arrest in prison".
Speaking outside the doors of GJKKO after the end of the security measure, Gjokutaj said that the "arrest in prison" is a political decision against Meta as one of the leaders of the opposition.
"He is the second opposition leader and the reason for his arrest is in this capacity. This is a forewarned decision. There is nothing in those volumes. We made our defense. This is a political decision that we were expecting and we will follow the path of appeal because this is the path guaranteed by the law".
Regarding the tensions in the session during the morning and the high tone of voice from former President Meta who addressed the prosecutors, lawyer Gjokutaj said: " Meta did not lose his composure. Loud tone, argument, truth spoken loudly. It is in his right".
As for SPAK's accusations of Ilir Meta's corruption in the "CEZ-DIA" case, the lawyer emphasized that the amount of money claimed to have been received has not been determined.
"The unspecified amount is unclaimed. Only in the Albanian prosecutor's office it is said that some lek were taken, but it is not said how much. These are all scams. As for the businessmen's work, Meta has acquaintance and acquaintance is not friendship".
The lawyer also rejected the lobbying payment in the USA.
"The issue of lobbying is null because it has not been executed. Meta has gone to America in the capacity of the Speaker of the Assembly".
Meanwhile, Gjokutaj warned of a lawsuit against the State Police for the way Ilir Meta was arrested: "We are on the way to file a lawsuit against the police for Meta's arrest."
The Special Court upheld the security measure of detention in prison against Ilir Meta, who is accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of wealth.
