She gave false testimony about her sister's murder in 1997, the sentence

The Court of Appeals imposed a mandatory appearance requirement on the couple Agustin and Valbona Prenga, who were arrested after they gave false testimony in the Lezha court regarding two murders that occurred 29 years ago.

Witnesses were called to tell what happened during the 1997 murder of Ardian and Majlinda Gjergji, the latter the sister of Valbona Prenga.

Both of them are considered eyewitnesses after they stated that they saw Gjovalin Lesin shooting two citizens.

But unlike what they had confessed at the time, in the local court both spouses insisted that they had not been present at the event and knew nothing.

According to court records, the defendant Gjovalin Lesi, sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment, was extradited to Albania last year, and for this reason the decision is being reviewed.

He is accused of killing his sister and brother-in-law with a firearm during a conflict. The Prenga couple, suspected of perjury, had been banned from leaving the country by the local court, but they requested that a financial guarantee be set since they live in Greece and the woman was undergoing medical treatment in this country.

The court did not only take into account health circumstances but also other circumstances.

As an argument, the court accepts the easing of the measure due to the fact that the couple's normal life in the Greek state should not be violated as long as the crime for which they are being investigated is not serious./ TCH
