Prostitution in Durrës, pimp from Armenia arrested, 22-year-old from Peru under investigation

A 52-year-old woman from Armenia has been arrested by police for organizing prostitution in Durrës, exploiting a 22-year-old woman from Peru. The latter has been placed under investigation by the police, along with 3 other people.

As material evidence, 2 passports of foreign citizens, sums of money, phone cards, notepads, etc. were seized.

The investigative actions carried out revealed that these foreign nationals had rented two apartments, in the Volga area, neighborhood no. 1, and in the Plazhit area, neighborhood no. 13, Durrës, which they had adapted for the practice of prostitution.

Full police statement: 

The Trafficking Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Special Operations Force, following the successive strikes carried out during the phases of the police operation codenamed "STORM", to crack down on exploitation for prostitution, after a two-week investigation using special methods, finalized the 13th phase of this operation.

As a result of the operation, in the Volga area, Durrës, citizen LH, 52 years old, born and residing in Armenia, was arrested in flagrante delicto, suspected of being the organizer of this case of exploitation for prostitution, for the criminal offenses of "Prostitution" and "Adapting premises for prostitution".

Also, during the operation, a 22-year-old woman from Peru, as well as three citizens from the Durrës district, were prosecuted for the criminal offense of "Prostitution".

As material evidence, 2 passports of foreign citizens, sums of money, phone cards, notepads, etc. were seized.

From the investigative actions carried out, it resulted that these citizens had rented two apartments, in the Volga area, neighborhood no. 1, and in the Plazhit area, neighborhood no. 13, Durrës, which they had adapted for the practice of prostitution.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further action.
