A joint operation was conducted yesterday evening by the Elbasan Police with the aim of cracking down on a criminal group operating in drug trafficking. In total, 4 people were arrested, one of them a resident of Shkodra and 3 others in flagrante delicto, while 41 kg of hashish was seized.

These individuals, in collaboration with each other, procured and transported significant quantities of the narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa, with the aim of distributing and selling it in several cities in the country, from north to south, as well as trafficking it outside the territory of Albania.

The arrested persons are Arben Guçe, 31 years old, Elion Qeva, 29 years old, Fran Pjetra, 35 years old and Mark Muraca, 31 years old, residents of Shkodër. The latter had made a vehicle available to the 35-year-old for the purpose of transporting narcotics. The arrested Arben Guçe, who was driving a vehicle, attempted to escape and damaged a police vehicle.  

In addition to 41 kg of hashish, police also seized 1 Kalashnikov firearm with live ammunition, 2 vehicles, and 2 cell phones.

"DVP Elbasan"

A criminal group that was selling narcotics in several cities in the country, from north to south, is being targeted.

The police operation codenamed "South & North" is finalized after several weeks of investigations.

The operation was carried out by the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Special Operational Force, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Elbasan.

3 citizens, suspected of trafficking narcotics and weapons, were caught red-handed and placed in handcuffs.

Another accomplice was also arrested, who made his vehicle available, in which the narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa was found.

During the intervention, one of the drivers of the vehicle (arrested) opposed the Police officers and, while attempting to leave, damaged the Police vehicle.

41 kg of the narcotic Cannabis Sativa, 1 Kalashnikov firearm with live ammunition, 2 vehicles and 2 mobile phones were seized.

The Narcotics Investigation Specialists at the Elbasan Police Department, in cooperation with the Operational Support Section of the Investigation, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Elbasan, after a several-week investigation with special investigative methods, successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "South & North".

As a result of the operation, the following citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto:

 AG, 31 years old,

EQ, 29 years old,

FP, 35 years old.

Following the investigative actions, it was possible to arrest the citizen: MM, 31 years old, resident of Shkodra, who is suspected of having made his vehicle available to citizen FP, for the purpose of transporting narcotics.

From the investigative actions, it is suspected that these citizens, in collaboration with each other, were obtaining and transporting significant quantities of the narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa, with the aim of distributing and selling it in several cities of the country, from north to south, as well as trafficking it outside the territory of Albania.

During the Police intervention, on the Elbasan city ring road, the driver of the vehicle, citizen AG, opposed the Police officers and, while attempting to leave, damaged the Police vehicle.

During the search of the vehicle, driven by citizen AG and passenger EQ, a Kalashnikov firearm was found and seized, along with 32 live ammunition, which was suspected of being trafficked.

Meanwhile, in the "Volkswagen Golf" vehicle, driven by citizen FP, 41 kg of suspected narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa was found and seized, which is suspected of being transported for the purpose of trafficking towards the Qafë Thanë Border Crossing Point.

Citizen FP is suspected of having transported the narcotics from Shkodra to Elbasan, in collaboration with two other citizens.

As material evidence, 41 kg of suspected narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa, 1 Kalashnikov firearm with live ammunition, 2 vehicles and 2 mobile phones were seized.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan, for the criminal offenses of "Trafficking in weapons and ammunition", "Trafficking in narcotics", "Opposition to a public order police officer", "Destruction of property" and "Violation of road traffic rules", the police statement states.
