"I became the investigator myself", Alibej shocks with testimony about
Erion Alibey

The next hearing for the “Golden Bullet” case took place at the Special Court of Appeals this Thursday. At the center of the hearing was the next testimony of the justice collaborator, Erion Alibej, accused of being the head of a criminal organization in Elbasan and the mastermind of several murders for revenge motives.

Erjon Alibej also spoke about the Bradashesh massacre, where Erion's brother, Endrit Alibej, uncle Arben Dylgjeri and a Turkish friend were killed. Alibej told the court that he was forced to take on the role of investigator and prosecutor himself, as the police did not take any action. He stated that he had collected all the information and had submitted it to justice after surrendering.

"For the murder of Endrit, I went to Rotterdam for a few days, then returned to Albania. I wrote to Genc Tafili that he had something to tell me. A few days later, he came to my house with Dorian Duli. They told me that Dorian had met Talo Çela in Shkodër and had told him that Endrit had beaten Kamer Mehje in the past," declared Alibej.

He claimed that, in an attempt to learn the truth, he met Kamer Mehje himself and several others in the Elbasan market:

"I asked Suel Çela to meet with Kamer. He told me: 'I can't come, because the Katunarët are there,' referring to the Çopjavi. Then, I met Kamer Mehje, Mario Çela, and Kamer's son. Kamer told me that he had never met Endrit."

Alibej also mentioned information that, according to him, had come to him through a source from Peqin prison.

"A friend of mine, who was in Peqin prison, told me that an acquaintance of his, Flobens Meçe, nicknamed 'Çoli', had overheard a conversation where Talo Çela, Mikel Kanani and Altin Ndoci were mentioned, who were discussing my murder. It was said: 'As much money as you want, just kill Erjon for us', but Dorian Duli had not accepted," he said.

Continuing his testimony, he also mentioned Ardian Çollaku, who according to him had served as an informant.

"Çollaku wanted to make contacts. From him I first learned who Dashnor Dumani was. He told me that his brother had robbed a money changer in the Kala neighborhood. I had access to the TIMS system and controlled every movement. I started identifying all the names with photos: Çopjat, Qosja, Dumani," declared Alibej.

Alibej continued with the allegations about Suel Çela's role in the context of criminal events in Elbasan:

"Suel Çela thought he had left me asleep, but I never slept. I even think I left Suel Çela asleep. I was collecting a lot of information, not just about Çopjat or Dumani, but about everyone. I had photos, entry and exit records, I checked the TIMS system myself."

Further, Alibej also spoke about the political interventions and support that, according to him, criminal groups in Elbasan had in law enforcement institutions.

"I was losing faith in justice in Elbasan. I learned that Abedin Mama had a meeting with Ardi Veliu and Tonin Vocaj. This coincided with the change of directors. I took it as information. In the meantime, I was looking for the executors of my family members. I made myself the investigator, the prosecutor, the judge. I made all my information available to justice."

Alibej said that after surrendering, he made his first contact with prosecutor Leonard Palushi.

"When I was in detention, the prosecutor came to accuse me of Xhoni Rusta and Ridvan Suka. I told him everything, as he was also investigating the murder of my family members. I didn't want to join the war, but I had many family members who had their eyes on me," he said.

A heavy part of his testimony was the state's indifference to solving his brother's murder.

"I had given the information to several police officers. I had all the intention of Talo Çela. I was getting information from Arjan Spahiu, Bujar Shega and others. But despite giving them everything, the executioners went to my children at school, to my mother when she went to the cemetery. Zero action was taken by the state. Space was left to the executioner groups. We had been killed once every six months at home," Alibej stressed.

According to him, even after the assassination attempt in which Kevi Baho was killed, a phone call came to his sister's address.

"My sister got a phone call. They said: 'What happened to the brothers is from Sandër Baho and a brother.' I understood that they were trying to disturb her. I told her to report it. She reported it, but it never came to light," he said.

The testimony then continued with a story about the murder of his cousin: "Andi Zylyfi, a person very close to me and my family, was killed 7 months after the assassination attempt on the Baho brothers. After his murder, I was wanted. Everything I did I invested only in protection and in finding those who hit us."
