A 54-year-old taxi driver has been arrested by Vlora police after a firearm was found in his vehicle.

Police say he collaborated with the 17-year-old passenger to transport the firearm in exchange for a sum of money that he would receive after selling it.

Meanwhile, the latter has been declared wanted by the police.

The Serious Crimes Investigation Specialists of the Vlora Police Department, following the investigative actions carried out within the framework of the police operation "The Passenger", based on information provided by police intelligence, arrested and detained citizen IB, 54 years old, resident of Fier.

During the operation conducted 4 days ago, on the "Fier - Vlora" road axis, in the trunk of the taxi with the driver, citizen IB, and a 17-year-old passenger, the Police services found an automatic firearm, which it is suspected that the 17-year-old, who was arrested in flagrante delicto, was transporting towards Vlora, with the intention of selling.

From the investigative actions, it is suspected that citizen IB is involved in this case, having collaborated with the 17-year-old to transport the firearm, in exchange for a sum of money that he would receive after selling it.

Work continues to capture citizen E. Gj., who was declared wanted as part of the operation, and to fully document this case.

The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora.
