Suicide

A serious event shook Gjirokastra on the afternoon of February 10, when a 17-year-old girl was found hanged in her apartment.

Family members discovered the tragic act a few hours later, and it was the father who noticed it and notified the emergency services.

Doctors determined that the teenager had passed away, leaving behind a chilling letter that has further deepened the shock of the family and community.

Letter about bullying

Among the girl's personal belongings, family members found an undated letter written in English, in which she recounted the pain and isolation she felt due to the bullying.

"Why are they bullying me?" the victim wrote, giving a clear signal that she felt excluded and attacked by her peers.

This has raised even more doubts about the factors that led to the fatal act. The letter found among the girl's personal belongings spoke about her feelings.

She described the sadness she felt about the way she dressed differently from her peers, the desire to have nicer clothes, company, and closeness with them.

The girl was a closed-off person and felt unaccepted in society, while her family was in difficult economic circumstances.

As a result of an accident at work, the girl's father had not worked for years, and this event had worsened the family's situation economically and psychologically.

Before committing the tragic act, the 15-year-old had left school three times during the day, returning to her apartment, but each time her father was there.

Only after finding a moment when she was alone at home did she decide to end her life.

Meanwhile, the event has reopened the debate on bullying in schools and the lack of psychological support mechanisms for students.
