Prime Minister Edi Rama has again commented on the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj in the Sy m'Sy column .
The head of government stated that his criticisms are not an attack on the justice system, but according to him, are intended to help consolidate justice.
Rama stated that, " independence seems to me to be a proven fact when the people say it," adding that "it is clearly the source of self-confidence for SPAK and GJKKO ."
Edi Rama: Now that independence seems to me to be a test case when the people say it, but clearly the source of self-confidence of SPAK and GJKKO, we will talk about strengthening democracy whenever these standards are violated by justice.
An independent judiciary, but professionally lame and disregarding constitutional freedoms and rights, and even the constitutional separation of powers, can become a threat to democracy itself, a problem for society, and an obstacle to the economy.
If there are signs that the abuse of the independence of the judiciary could become a path of legal uncertainty in the body of society, the problem is no longer simply of those who are directly mistreated by a power that is puffed up with itself, but is a problem for the country and society, as such it is for me as Prime Minister, not to attack it, but to help justice consolidate.
