The arrest of Dritan Rexhepi, considered one of the biggest leaders of cocaine trafficking from Latin America, has received great attention in Ecuador, the country where he stayed for a long time.

In fact, Rexhepi, who is rumored to be the head of the first Albanian cartel "Kompania Bello", won his freedom from prison in Ecuador.

The master of escapes, Rexhepi managed to escape from prisons three times, once in Durrës, then in Belgium and Italy.

While in Ecuador, through the falsification of a series of medical reports from a hospital in Ecuador, he managed to gain freedom.

For this, the Ecuadorian politician and journalist Fernando Villavicencio denounced Dritan Rexhepi, judge Poma Chamba, a public defender, seven officials from the National Comprehensive Care Service (SNAI), six doctors from Hospital del Guasmo and a friend of Rexhepi to the prosecutor.

On August 9, 2023, in Quito, Ecuador, a group of killers part of a cocaine cartel executed the politician Villavicencio, who at the time was running for President of Ecuador. Villavicencio had previously received threats from criminal groups, including the Sinaloa cartel.
