" I don't understand where the problem lies with this agreement, for how long Albania and Italy are two countries more united than ever ?", said the writer,  Ismail Kadare, in an interview with the Italian media "La Stampa" regarding the agreement with Italy for immigrants.

The prominent Albanian writer Ismail Kadare says that he considers the agreement recently reached between the Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni, that happened between the two countries to be small things.

"These are small things that happen between governments, I don't care about those protests and power games. As I said, Albania and Italy are already united: there are 500,000 Albanians living and working in Italy, many Italians have moved to Albania, there are mixed marriages, big companies have been established here, our children have Italian fathers. Where does the problem lie? An agreement?", says Kadare, among others.

Asked if it is right to ban immigrants from outside Europe, he says: " Europe is a beautiful neighborhood and everyone wants to come here, that's normal. People have always moved, since ancient times. I don't understand anyone who disagrees ."
