Andrew Bode denies the charge for the murder of Edmond Papa: Police leaders
Andrew Bode on trial

Andrew Bode alias Edvin Bode, accused as the person who killed Edmond Pope two years ago in Tirana, appeared before the court this Friday to be informed of the security measure.

The Tirana court left unchanged the measure imposed in absentia, that of prison arrest.

Meanwhile, 45-year-old Bode denied the connection with the murder of Edmond Papa. During the session, he stated that in the future he will bring witnesses to prove that he has nothing to do with the murder.

Asked by the court why he hid from justice, he claimed that he had no faith in the police leaders, as, according to him, they received indications from Dubai.

"I have no relationship with the people who accuse me of having friendships. During this time I have been hiding because I do not trust the police leaders. I have been in Albania the whole time, I have not left the country" , he is said to have said in the courtroom.

Bode was arrested two days ago in the city of Memaliaj by an operation carried out by the RENEA forces and the police of Gjirokastra. Together with him, Julian Kalemi, who had sheltered in Boden's apartment, as well as Adriatik Kalemi alias Andrea Kalemi, who was found in his apartment with an arsenal of weapons, were also arrested.

Edmond Papa, a businessman from Fieri residing in Saranda, was executed in Selitë in Tirana, on December 16, 2022. Albano Velo was arrested for his murder, while Bode was wanted. The latter is accused of being the person who executed the Pope.

According to investigators, the events are related to the conflicts between Edmond Papa's group and the Kalemi tribe, which started with the murder of Aleksandër Sadikaj on June 11, 2022. Sadikaj was the nephew of the Kalemi family. At that time his family accused Edmond Pope as the perpetrator, and allegedly organized the plan for his murder, which was finalized on December 16 two years ago.

After this event, two attempts were made to kill Andrea Kalemi in Greece, who was injured. After these attempts, as a sign of revenge for the murder of Edmond Papa, an attempt was made to kill his brother, Zamir Kalemi. On January 13 of this year, he was assassinated in the Headquarters while traveling in a "Smart" type vehicle.

While the last attempt to hit Adriatik Kalemi was on July 20, where the assassination was carried out in the bar he owns in Memaliaj. The father, Shyqyr Kalemi, the waiter Gledio Muka and the customer Marsel Çela were killed there, as well as his uncle Artur Kalemi was injured.

The reason for the quarrel between the two tribes is suspected to be the disruption of drug deals in Greece.
