Former head of SHISH, Fatos Klosi, invited to Fiori Dardha's "Breaking" show on Top News, commented on the protest of KLA veterans in Tirana and the ongoing trial against its leaders in The Hague.
Klosi stated that, if called to testify at the Special Court, he would affirm that the KLA was never a terrorist army, but a liberation army.
"Very soon, international partners also became partners with the KLA and considered it a liberation army, cooperating closely with it," he said.
According to Klos, Tirana played the role of mediator at that time, as initially the KLA was an unknown structure, but then even the internationals realized that something important was happening in Kosovo.
"The international community recognized them as partners and this continued until the end. I regret that a court, which is itself Kosovar, makes such accusations," he stressed.
Regarding the extension of the judicial process in The Hague, Klosi stated that the European Union has spent around 1.2 billion euros on this court, which may be one of the reasons why the process is dragging on.
"I don't predict how this process will end. The judges seem to be deliberately prolonging it, two years have passed. If the prosecution had clear charges, there was no need for it to last so long," he said.
Klosi also commented on the cold relations between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama.
"In Albania it is clear that they have never agreed on anything. I am sorry that the same situation is being repeated in Kosovo. Let us not forget that the former president and the speaker of the country's parliament, very important figures, are being tried. Kurti is in open hostility with the history of the KLA," said Klosi.
He recalled that Kurti was a member of the movement at its beginnings and the political spokesman of the KLA, but after the Rambouillet Conference he distanced himself from its structure.
"If he wanted to help the KLA, he had to go to the mountains. He justified himself by saying that he was not in good health and could not cope with life there. Since then, he has felt inadequate for not participating in the liberation of Kosovo, which is the greatest event of the Albanian nation. Today, in power, he still maintains that feeling and has problems with the KLA," added Klosi, underlining that Kurti's positions have openly shown this contradiction.
Finally, Klosi also spoke about the tensions between Kurti and the United States.
"The very name of his party, 'Vetëvendosje', shows that he is against the advice of others. The fact that they feel bad that they did not participate in the war, they are now trying to look like patriots, because they talk about the sovereignty of Kosovo, but it is known that the state of Kosovo is not yet sovereign, it is NATO troops that guarantee its security," concluded Klosi.
